Dear Editor,
On my visit back to Guyana at the moment I notice a plethora of non-working street lights especially along my village, Cumberland and the general East Canje area. How can the administration allow so many of these lights to go bad so quickly and for so long without any attention?
Most of the roadways are dark again. Also, the Canje River Bridge is falling apart, literally. The steel plates are not secure at certain jointed sections of the bridge. I walked the bridge Saturday. There are broken rails and loose joints where the rubberized material used to be. There is no pedestrian demarcation. Very, very dangerous situation. While on top and a heavy duty sand truck was passing, the bridge was literally shaking.
Why are we so bad at preserving good things in Guyana?
