Dear Editor,
Kaieteur News – Guyana had a sugar contract with the EU which was challenged at the WTO and changed so what is this about contracts cannot be renegotiated and about us needing to respect the sanctity of contracts?
As we can see from the chart (courtesy of OGGN), the ExxonMobil/Guyana oil contract is exploitative and should be renegotiated. We are looking for a minimum of 5% Royalty, 50% Profit Share, 30% Corporate Income Tax with the Environmental Liability being transferred to ExxonMobil. PLUS, a US$500M Signing Bonus (payable in installments of US$100M per year over 5 years).
Yours faithfully,
Sean Ori
