DVA A Division finals…
Kaieteur News – Action got underway on Tuesday night from 19:00hrs at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall (CASH) on Homestretch Avenue when the finals of the Demerara Volleyball Association (DVA) A division league commenced with a keenly contested spike-down between Eagles Volleyball Club and Young Achievers Volleyball Club.

Eagles Quacy Matheson about to spike against Achievers on Friday night in game one of the DVA A Division finals.
And, after five grueling sets, Eagles were flying high as they drew first blood in the best of three series with a hard fought 3-2 win over Achievers that had finished the group stage at the summit of the points table.
The game was nothing but exciting as two of the best volleyball clubs in Guyana put on a great show which was streamed live on the Guyana Volleyball Federation (GVF) Facebook page.
Young Achievers came out swinging in the first set of the game and made light work of Eagles 25-17. However, the Eagles outfit has shown that it has grit throughout the tournament and the persistent side then bounced back to claim the second and third sets 25-18 and 25-16, respectively.
Knowing their task ahead, Young Achievers came back stronger in the fourth set to win it 25-22. This forced the game into a fifth set tie breaker which saw Eagles dominating achievers and grabbing the decisive game 15-7.
The top performers of the match were Quacy Matheson with 17 points, Trevon McRae with 13 points and Adriel Moore with 10 points.
Eagles player and GVF competitions committee member, Kristoff Shepperd, mentioned that, “It was a great game, the competition was very intense but we know the job isn’t finished as yet. So it’s back to the drawing board we go to formulate our plans to seal the deal and become league champions.”
Game two of the finals will have its first tomorrow from 19:00hrs at the CASH and that game will also be streamed live on the GVF’s facebook page.
