Dear Editor,
Kindly publish this ‘ Cry out’ to our Motherland’.
“Dear land of Guyana, of rivers and plains”,
When your plains become rivers, there’re more losses than gains.
“Made rich by the sunshine and lush by the rains.”
When lush becomes slush, there is so much pain.
“ Set gem-like and fair between mountains and sea.”
When sea covers mountains, wha’ gon happen to we?
Seems like time to take stock, to acknowledge God reigns,
He’s a God of compassion , and His judgement He restrains…
God bless you, dear Mother, and make us to be
True patriots – living in love and unity!
“Your children salute you, dear land of the free.” FREE…yes free to do what’s right! Free to pursue progress, guided by justice, equity and truth. Not free to marginalize the vulnerable; not free to pillage and plunder our natural resources, but to be our brother’s keeper, ensuring that all get a piece of the pie. We applaud every human effort that speaks of progress and to potential, and as we acknowledge that we are a nation under God, we will experience this reality as expressed by a Statesman of old: “Blessed is the Nation whose God is the Lord!”
Yours truly,
Claudia Heywood
