DEAR EDITOR,
Maybe I missed it but cannot recall seeing a tribute from the Minister responsible for culture or education on the passing of our cultural icon and educator, Daphne Rogers. If missed I am poorer for it, if none was issued by either minister, that is disappointing.
I knew Ms. Rogers from her teaching days at Dolphin Government School, where I was a student. I have always been amazed over the years of her simple quality of always recognising and speaking to me whenever we met. She never failed to greet me warmly. Her gentle, affable and gracious manner made her truly a remarkable person, but I will always remember her as my common entrance teacher from Dolphin.
To her grieving son, Dallas, other family members, relatives and friends I extend my condolences. A life well lived is now at rest.
Rest peacefully,
Shamshun Mohamed
