Kaieteur News – The Inter Ministries/Government agencies Inaugural Female softball cricket competition dubbed ‘The Cummings Electrical Cup’ will be played this Saturday on Durban Park Tramac from 10:00hrs.
Female softball teams from 21 ministries and seven agencies will be on show for the first ever seven-a-side, 18 balls, knockout competition for trophies, medals and other prizes which will be up for grabs.
A number of sponsors so far are on board for this competition including Cummings Electrical Company that is the main sponsor, West Indian Sports Complex, the Trophy Stall, R&T Taxi Services and all the Ministries that would be participating. The organiser, James ‘Uprising’ Lewis has noted that more sponsors are still needed.
Teams are asked to be registered on or before Wednesday 28th May, 2021 with the coordinator, Lewis, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Registry Department.
‘Uprising’ Lewis shared with Kaieteur Sport a copy of the conditional letter of approval from the National Covid-19 Task Force. Although approval has been granted to host the event, there will be strictly no spectators or the sale of alcoholic beverages.
In a correspondence to Kaieteur Sport, the organiser noted special thanks to all the Permanent Secretaries who are making sure that their teams participate in this competition.
