Kaieteur News – A 58-year-old has gone missing and is feared dead after he left in a boat to “pick up seine” in the Corentyne River, some 15 miles from Orealla.
Missing is Nazim Shamshudeen called “Nosey” a Labourer of Springlands, John Culvert, Upper Corentyne, Berbice.
Shamshudeen who is employed with John Domond at the Global Tex Farm located some 10 miles from Orealla reportedly left the location about 00:30 hrs. yesterday with a 25 feet long paddle boat to “pick up seine” has not been seen since.
His employer, Domond, said that when he realized that Shamshudeen had not returned hours later, he and a few other employees went in search of him. As they made their way out, they spotted the boat Shamshudeen left with but there was no sign of him. The boat was drifting in the Corentyne River, Domond told police.
A report has since been filed and a probe launched.
