Mohamed confirms 2021 calendar

Just two events were able to be contested from the Guyana Motor Racing and Sports Club (GMR&SC) 2020 calendar namely the Endurance Championship Meet Round 1 and the Race of Champions Round 1 due to the coronavirus outbreak.
However, as measures are gradually being relaxed, the GMR&SC are optimistic that 2021 will be a smoother ride and President Rameez Mohamed has confirmed that a 2021 Calendar has been approved.
The calendar features 13 events as was the case this year and will open with the customary Endurance Championship Round 1 which will shift into gear (pending approval) on January 24.
The second and final round will boost off on May 8 and hopefully, fans may get to witness live whether or not multiple time reigning champion Adrian Fernandes or Team Ramchand Wreckers will retain his crown.
On St. Valentine’s Day, Drag racing will return to the South Dakota strip which has undergone tremendous work during the pandemic and records are expected to be broken on the smoother, more leveled surface.
The much subscribed International Drag Race Meet is set for August 15 and some keen rivalry is anticipated with many drivers from Trinidad & Tobago already signaling their interest to the GMR&SC of competing as soon as possible. The 2021 drag racing season will conclude with its third and final meet on October 3.
The GT MotorSports Karting Championships will have four rounds next year with the dates set being March 13, April 24, July 17 and August 21. Round one of the National Race of Champions (Circuit meet), is slated for March 28 at South Dakota where Team CAMS of North America is expected to have a large contingent being spearheaded by Afraz Allie.
July 4 is the day for Round Two of the circuit championship will get underway while the popular International Circuit Meet which usually serves as the final round of the Caribbean Motor Racing Championship (CMRC) will have high octane energy on November 7 to close off the season.
Mohamed, in an invited comment, urged motor racing fans and competitors to remain patient and to exercise the right safety measures as the fight against covid-19 continues.
