Before Liza One and Liza Two, before barrels of oil by the billions
There was Liza, pronounced in rhyme with miser, and her famous bucket.
You might remember Harry on the radio, going back and forth with her
About the hole in the bucket which he claimed was impossible to fix.
GECOM saga takes me back to that, except that was funny, this is not.
While Keith has Claudette playing catch with twenty two
By outrigging the infield with fraud, insolence and insubordination
And ExxonMobil has Guyana’s EPA between Scylla and Charybdis,
The barrels’ bottoms are falling out. Who is there to fix them?
My wife’s name is Claudette too, and if she had asked me for my opinion,
I would have advised her to firstly fire Keith, for flagrant violations.
Second, to hire a new CEO with character, knowledge and experience.
The name I would offer is Joegen Majasingh who rode in that rodeo before.
If there was someone, I really wanted on my team
I would incentivize him or her by paying just a dollar less than me
And give a firm two year contract that if for any reason that person has to leave
I will buy the contract out, at full value for the time remaining.
Since money is not the only value I can offer and that alone might not suffice
I will throw our organization’s weight behind
A nomination to honour him with the Order of Roraima.
A bucket, a hole, a straw, an axe, a stone and water.
Like this land of many waters and even more eye water.
Every day that this continues, is another day lost to us
To see Guyana in its bounty in the rest of our lifetime.
