DEAR EDITOR,
There are several stories in the press on allegations about several “dead and emigrated” persons voting in the March 2nd elections. These are crimes against the state. These “allegations” should be fully investigated – if the persons who impersonated the “dead and emigrated” are found, they should be arrested and charged.
There are election-related crimes that are far more serious than the “allegations” of fewer than a dozen “dead and emigrated” persons who might have voted.
Editor, if you would put your censorship pen on hold for a minute, I would boldly assert (or allege) that Clairmont Mingo has committed a far more serious offense against the State. He used a Spreadsheet full of manufactured numbers of votes supposedly won by parties. The Spreadsheet numbers did not correspond with the numbers on Statements of Polls. (An SOP is a legal document – it is Gecom-stamped, signed by Presiding Officer, Counting and party agents. Copies are given to party agents as well as a copy posted outside each polling station).
There were numerous eyewitnesses – watching in real time as Mingo committed those crimes. Over a hundred International Observers and local Observers eye-witnessed Mingo’s crime. Local accredited Observer Kit Nascimento attested in letters to the press: I saw Mingo “with my own eyes” committing those crimes. Also, this matter went to the High Court. Chief Justice ordered Mingo to do over the tabulation – and make sure he used the numbers written on the SOPs. Mingo defied the ruling of the High Court.
Editor, why isn’t Mingo charged with committing electoral fraud?
Editor, if you would permit me, I would assert that Mingo was just a conduit for that R-4 tabulation fraud. He did not make up that Spreadsheet himself. It was made up by other individuals who still work for the Electoral Commission. Mingo was not a one-man crime force.
Why isn’t Chairperson, Justice Claudette Singh asking Guyana’s celebrated police crime squad to investigate these electoral crimes? Why isn’t Claudette Singh doing her own in-house investigation to ascertain who in the Electoral Commission is the real author of the Region-4 tabulation fraud?
A more fundamental question: Is Guyana governed by a Rule of Law?
Mike Persaud
