Host Mahdia recorded consecutive victories against Micobie when the teams collided recently in two T10 softball matches organised by the home team as part of their Republic Day celebrations.
Mahdia defeated Micobie by 70 runs in their first encounter. Batting first, Mahdia posted 153-2. Paul Tyrell and Rajkumar Singh added 150 for the opening stand with Tyrell striking two fours and seven sixes in a top score of 68, while Rajkumar Singh made 62 with five fours and five sixes.
Micobie were bowled out for 83 in response. Vishnu and Randy (only names provided) made 35 and 29 respectively with the former hitting five sixes and the latter three sixes. The pair kept their team in the hunt with a third wicket stand of 44, but following their separation, the rest of the batting went downhill as Mark Jeffers picked up 3-18 and Tyrell 2-28.
In the second encounter, Mahdia triumphed by 130 runs. Led by a century opening stand from Jeffers and Singh, the host posted 187-1, taking first strike. Singh hammered nine fours and six sixes in a top score of 87 not out while Jeffers, who reached his fifty off 12 balls, clobbered three fours and 10 sixes in a robust 74. Micobie were sent packing for 57 in response. Tyrell grabbed 3-1 and N. Bobb 2-17.
