Go-Kart season speeds off next month

Go-karters will have an extended calendar for the 2020 Georgetown Grand Prix season, with the first of four rounds set to kickstart on March 21 at GT Motorsports located on Thomas Lands.

The go-kart season will be extended in 2020.

Since the event started in 2017, the norm has been three rounds, but this year an additional round has been added.
According to organiser, Mahendra ‘Raj’ Boodhoo, the extended time table is aimed at giving more chances to the younger generation to develop their skills.
Boodhoo also stated there is the possibility of two Endurance races, but those dates have not been set.
Apart from the race in March, the other three will be May 9, June 27 and October 17.
Last season, the main attention was on the 125cc Juniors, given the stakes- a trip to race in Florida; Zachary Persaud won that after being chased by cousins Nathan Rahaman and Rayden Persaud.
They were also some impressive performances from Paige Mendonca and Jeremy Ten-Pow.
Based on the returns from the 2019, 2020 should be even more exciting and competitive.
The Kids Cup has been dominated by Justin Ten-Pow; he even travelled to Barbados, where he made a clean sweep in the Winter Cup.
Ben Phang and rising talent Nicholas Sawh would hope they can cut the gap with the young Ten-Pow.
The seniors’ battle should again evolve around Kristian Jeffrey, Steven Nobrega, John and Matthew Phang.
The Easy Cup Rookie had it excitement with Ackeem ‘Flat Top’ Thomas and Luis Kumar bringing both off and on track excitement, but it was Naresh Alves who took the title.
Raymond Seebeeran dominated the final round, but Shan Seejatan was the champion driver overall.
