Pensioner killed in Nigg road accident died from multiple injuries. – PM report
A post mortem examination conducted on the body of the 81-year-old pensioner Parvidi Ramcharan, from Albion Front, Corentyne, Berbice revealed that she died from shock and haemorrage due to multiple injuries about the body.
The examination was conducted at the Georgetown Public Hospital mortuary by Government Pathologist, Dr. Nehaul Singh, yesterday morning.
It is unclear if a file was prepared for advice since the post mortem was carried out.
However, while this publication and other sections of the media reported that the driver of the vehicle that killed Ramcharan was released on station bail, Kaieteur News has since learnt from a police source that instructions were given by the officer-in-charge of traffic in Region Six to release the driver on station bail a day before the 72 hours was up.
Efforts to contact the traffic officer Timothy Williams in relation to such a development were unsuccessful.
Parvidi Ramcharan on Monday morning met her demise after she was hit by a speeding car driven by a Chinese national with car bearing license plate number PPP 1008. Ramcharan was at the time making her way across a pedestrian crossing situated near the Nigg Post Office in Nigg Village, Corentyne. She had just uplifted her pension from the postal office relatives said.
Surveillance footage from a nearby business place showed the elderly woman making her way across the road on the pedestrian crossing when she was hit by the car.
According to relatives, her son was waiting for her at the bus shed on the northern side, just a few meters away, when she was hit.
At that moment, he did not realise it was his mother that was hit but thought it was someone else. When he rushed to assist with others he was shocked to see his mother’s injured body on the roadway. Arrangements were immediately made to transport her to the Port Mourant Hospital where she succumbed to her injuries.
