Berbice Bar Association donates to ruptured brain aneurysm patient.
The Berbice Bar Association (BBA) on Thursday made a monetary donation to brain aneurysm patient, Ravina Austin. Austin, a mother of four is now one step closer to reaching a mountainous target of $6.4M to undergo the surgery in Guyana.

Her condition which has rendered her helpless, came unexpectedly when she was on an outing at the Berbice Expo and Trade Fair earlier this year. She collapsed at the event. In light of her condition and need for monetary assistance, the BBA managed to gather some funds to hand over to her.
President of the BBA, Attorney-at-law Horatio Edmonson, stated that since hearing about her condition, members got busy contacting other members to step forward and assist. He added that thus far, some members made contributions while others have promised to do so.
“Even though it is at short notice, we were able to put together some money. We thought rather than wait after the holidays until everything comes in, we would have go ahead and let you know that we are serious about the contribution,” he said.
Edmonson noted that the woman’s situation caught his interest since he would have recently gone through a craniotomy. He added that the donation by the Bar Association is just a start but hopes to do more in the near future. He expressed hope that the operation will be a success.
Austin, after receiving the cheque, Ms. Austin tearfully expressed her gratitude for that which was given and spoke of the difficulties she currently endures since her untimely medical issue. She said she was very thankful.
Austin currently has a ruptured brain aneurysm and was examined by Neorologist Amarnauth Dhuki. He will be executing the emergency surgery at the NeuroSpine Services Inc, a private facility.
