A 22-year-old resident of La Grange, West Bank Demerara (WCD) is now a patient at the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC) after he was reportedly shot in the butt by a licensed firearm holder yesterday around 3:30 hrs.
The incident occurred in ‘Red Road’ Sophia.
Kaieteur News understands that the victim was returning from a party in the area. He said that on his way home from the party he walked into the yard of the suspect and rapped on the door asking for water.
It is believed that fearing that it was an intruder the suspect open fired at the youth hitting him in the butt.
In an interview, the victim’s sister stated that her brother is not known to be a thief and it is to her belief that he was wrongfully shot.
Efforts to contact the firearm holder were futile.
