Oct 18, 2019 Letters
The Ministry of Natural Resources (MNR) through its social media outlet and Public Affairs and Communication Unit have now jumped on the bandwagon in defence of the beleaguer GFC Head of Monitoring and the Monitoring Unit in itself. Rather than trying to cover up gross allegations of corruption, system compromise and deliberate collusion, the MNR is hereby advised to launch an investigation into the matter. The best response by the MNR to my letter and accusations could only be dubbed as “scandalous and devoid of the facts” and deliberately chose to ignore the damning allegations of corruption to hide their complicit actions.
The reluctance and defence behaviour of the MNR of what is thought to be one of the biggest heist on-going within the GFC monitoring unit no doubt is geared towards protecting the villain(s) and keeping the board and the Commission in the dark or equally protecting them.
The Ministry sought to use pure theoretical arguments to defend the collapse and compromise system at the GFC monitoring unit rather than to bell the predator. If the Ministry and Board and Commission is serious on addressing corruption, collusion, and compromise and systematic and organize system collapse at GFC then it should engage in a meaningful process to address this rather than attack the whistleblower.
The irony to be mild (hypocrisy) at its best is that these matters were raised with the Minister numerous times at outreach meetings in Linden, Kwakwani and elsewhere, in addition, numerous letters have been sent to the Ministry, Presidency, and Chair of the GFC, including from other stakeholders. So how the Ministry can wake up now and say this is all makeup, and the system at GFC is all nice and rosy. The fact that GFC is unable to pay wages to suggest that there are serious leakages in the system. It does not require a Professor to tell you that. One would say Bring it on Ministry and Board or is it the Ministry issuing instructions to the GFC monitoring unit to be flexible and breach standard operating procedures for the benefit of their friends and family?
Sincerely,
M. Fraser
