Less than a year into his third term as President of the Guyana Amateur Swimming Association (GASA) Ivan Persaud has been replaced by his Vice President, Brian Goodridge following fresh elections held at the Guyana Olympic Association last week Thursday.
The decision to have new elections was made by the members of the association following meetings which reviewed and discussed the challenges plaguing the body. Persaud served as GASA head from 2014.
The new executive is as follows: President – Brian Goodridge, Vice Presidents – Shefetah Tzedeq and Elke Rodrigues, Honorary Secretary – Yelema Phillips, Hon Treasurer – Valmiki Singh, Assistant Secretary/Treasurer – Renée Charles.
President Goodridge in his acceptance speech said that he was happy with the confidence reposed in him by the clubs promising that all would be involved in decision making.
“I hope that we could get the support from all the clubs as well and look at the bigger picture of developing swimming in Guyana.”
