The Guyana Boxing Association (GBA) will be staging the Andrew Lewis National Novice Boxing Card which is slated from this Friday to Sunday 7 at the National Gymnasium. Young Achievers, Vergenoogen, Forgotten Youth Foundation, GDF, Pocket Rocket, Rosehall Jammers, Caryll Boxing Gym, and Savanah Boxing Gym of Lethem are the gyms expected to participate.
According to Technical Director of the Guyana Boxing Association (GBA) Terrence Poole this Card will include Elite, Youths and Females pugilists from most areas in Guyana.
“This is the first stage of the elite boxing where to usually findfurther boxers since most these Boxers will be fighting for the first time in a competition” Poole noted. Poole said that a few of those who would have competed in the National School Boys and Under-16 tournaments should be involved.
The Guyana Defence Force are the defending champion and Fight time is 19:30hrs, nightly. Poole, also the Coach of GDF said his youngsters are enthusiastic and eager to get into the ring.
The Weight-in and Medical will be conducted on Thursday at 17:00hrs at the National Gymnasium.
