Women’s Team dominates Somalia; Open Team battles Luxembourg
(Kaieteur News) – The Women’s Chess Team made its mark with an almost flawless victory over Somalia during the Luxembourg Open recently.
Led by Women’s Candidate Masters (WCM) Aditi Joshi, Jessica Callender, Ciel Clement, the team secured convincing wins on Boards 1, 4, and 2, respectively.
Guyana women’s chess team had a brilliant outing during the Luxembourg Open.
On Board 3, WCM Shariff fought to a draw, sealing a commanding 3.5–0.5 team victory.
While the women continued their strong run, the Open Team faced a tough round against a formidable Luxembourg side.
FIDE Master (FM) Anthony Drayton and 16-year-old Kyle Couchman, who earned a notable draw against Luxembourg’s FM Philippe Linster, showed great resilience to hold their opponents to draws.
However, with losses for Pitamber and Sandiford, the team ultimately fell short in a demanding match.
