The second edition of the Cricket West Indies (CWI) foundation coaching course concluded on Tuesday last at the Guyana National Stadium, Providence. The course attracted 17 participants and served as a lead up to the CWI level one course which is set for July 18-21 and the level two programme which will be held on July 26-29. A total of 30 participants took the two foundation courses.
According to Territorial Development Officer, Colin Stuart, there was a positive feedback with the majority of participants having high praise for the programme. He said that such courses helped to carry out coaching functions effectively and the participants were upbeat about this venture, whereas they are keen not only to develop their game, but to help the youths of their respective clubs.
Stuart added that they have also shown an interest undertaking the course at higher levels. Those that participated are Guyana Jaguars skipper Leon Johnson, Assad Fudadin, Anthony Adams, Steven Jacobs, Akshaya Persaud, Bhaskar Yadram, Subrina Munroe, Kenroy Joseph, Keyron Fraser, Kwesi Maltay, Gregory Crandon, David Baird, Shamar Angel, Azoomah Alfred, Aditya Basdeo and Nadir Baksh.
Sessions were conducted by Stuart and fellow former West Indies fast bowler Reon King with assistance from experienced level two coach Michael Franco.
