A mixed doubles contest and a couple of Men’s doubles were played on Sunday night, while Afruica Gentle was also in winner’s row in the night matches of the Guyana Bank of Industry & Commerce (GBTI) Open Lawn Tennis tournament at the GBTI Court in Bel Air.
Gentle, the National U-18 Girls Champion, also a member of Guyana Women’s Cricket squad this year, and playing under lights, she was all over Akilah Jones; beating her 6-0, 6-1 in dominating display.
In Sunday Evening’s matches, Anthony Downes and Rebecca Mitchell registered an emphatic 6-0, 6-0 win over the pair of Philbert Clark and Diana Bharat.
In the Men’s doubles, Gavin Lewis and Daniel Lopes won a hard fought encounter against Mark McDonald and Ronald Murray, 6-4, 7-5.
The last match of the night had to be stopped before its conclusion and was scheduled to be completed yesterday when action was due to start at 4:00PM.
In the action on Sunday night, Joshua Kelekyezi and Viraj Sharma against Vadeannand Resaul and Jeremiah Kelekyezi ended for the night with the score reading 6-4, 2-1.
