Kevin Sinclair struck a fine century to hand Achievers Sports Club an innings and 189-run victory over D’ Edward SC when play in the West Berbice Cricket Association/Anil Lalsa Construction Company two-day tournament continued recently.
Achievers won the toss and batted first at Bush Lot ground. They were given a solid start as openers Kevin Sinclair and Collis Noble put on 147 for the opening partnership. Sinclair struck 14 fours and two sixes in scoring his first century of the competition-107, while Noble was caught for 38. Andrew Dutchin slammed 50 not out, while Azoomah Alfred made an unbeaten 24 as Achievers SC posted 262-4 declared. Bowling for D’Edward SC, Tony Dalana took two for 22 from six overs and Henraj Harilall one for 58 from 11 overs.
D’Edward in reply found the going tough and were bowled out for 42 with Sinclair claiming four for 18 from 10.2 overs, while Christopher Harry captured three for 15.
Enjoying a lead of 221, Achiever’s enforced the follow-on and D’ Edward SC were sent packing for 32. Sinclair picked up four for 12 from five overs to end with match figures of eight for 30, while Andrew Dutchin took three for 14 from 4.2 overs and Christopher Harry had one for two from two overs.
