One of the most decorated softball teams, Regal Masters will be looking to add to their collection of the prizes when they journey to the United States of America to defend their New York Softball Cricket League Legends Cup title.
The tournament which is set to commence on June 28 and conclude two days later will be contested at Roy Wilkins Park, Canarsie, will see teams from Canada, Guyana, Florida and New York vying for supremacy.
Regal Masters will compete in the Over-45 category and according to Captain of the side Mahendra Hardyal, their preparation has been going well. Speaking with Kaieteur Sport yesterday, Hardyal added that his team is well balanced and comprises of a number of experienced players who have played in numerous tournaments overseas.
Hardyal stated that they have been using a number of local tournaments as a warm up for their overseas engagement and stressed on the importance of team work. “Even though our players are capable enough to return victorious, we will not be taking any team for granted and at the same time we are aware of what to expect on tour.”
“Once we support each other, stick to the basics and keep it simple, we will be difficult to beat and being one of the few Guyanese teams in the tournament, we will be looking to keep the Golden Arrow Head flying proudly.”
Apart from 2018, Regal Masters have also won the title in 2016 and finished runner up in 2015 and 2017. Among the sponsors on board are ISG, Star Party Rentals, Ink Plus, The Computer Store, Elegant Jewellery and Pawn Shop, Regal Stationery and Computer Centre, Regal Sport and Crown Mining.
