Achievers defeated host Number Five by an innings and 88 runs when play in the West Berbice Cricket Association/Anil Lalsa Construction two-day tournament continued on Saturday last.
No Five, in reply to Achievers’ first innings score of 390-9 declared were bowled out for 99 with Amernauth Seegobin scoring 35, Raffle Estraido 18 and Carlston Nurse 13.
Bowling for Achiever’s, Krishendat Ramoo grabbed 5-52 from 13 overs while Kevin Sinclair claimed 3-23. Enjoying a lead of 291, Achievers enforced the follow-on and Number Five responded with 203 all out.
Raffle Estraido struck 11 fours and two sixes in a top score of 73 while Ramoo returned to take 6-36 and Sinclair 2-54. Earlier, Shamar Angel top scored for Achiever’s with 137 while Ramoo made 105.
In another fixture played previously, Number Five batted first and piled up 335 all out against Bath. Arthley Bailey notched up his second century of the competition, 120 (7×4 8×6) while Kenjie Sedock made 43, E. Fraser 43, Erwin Johnson 32 and Carlston Nurse 30.
Kapel Armogun bagged 5-72 while D. Seecharran took 2-47. Bath were 93-3 in reply with Armogun on 42 when rain intervened and play was subsequently called off at 16:30hrs. The match between Bath and Paradise was abandoned due to rain.
The competition continues tomorrow with Achiever’s playing D’ Edward at Bush Lot and Number Five hosting Paradise. On Monday, Achievers will take on Bath.
