It has been confirmed that the first event of the Karting calendar will be a day race at the GT Motorsports track on Thomas Lands and Albert Street on May 11.
Further details about the event are being worked out but the organisers, GT Motorsports, have confirmed that they may have several overseas competitors.
Further reports indicate that there will be bonus points qualifying and fastest laps in an attempt to make the event more interesting.
The six Guyanese that participated in the recently concluded Caribbean Junior Karting Academy Trophy (JCKAT) along with the two youngsters, who competed in the Barbados Karting Association (BKA) Winter Cup, will be eager to show their stuff.

Rayden Persaud (G26) was the leading Guyanese in the Caribbean Series, followed by Jeremy TenPow (G61) but all will start even on home turf.

The six CJKAT competitors were Nathan Rahman, Jeremy Ten-Pow, Rayden Persaud, Paige Mendonca, Zachary Persaud, and Elan Rahaman. Elan only competed in rounds one and two. Justin Ten-Pow and Nicholas Sawh were the two who competed in the Winter Cup with Justin snagging the overall trophy.
Meanwhile, a source close to the sport has indicated in using the recently implemented (Super Karts USA) SKUSA format which features a qualifying, two pre-finals and then a final as against one qualifying and three races.
Qualifying karters will be gridded for three races: Race 1(Best qualifying time); Race 2 (Based on Finish from Race 1 with Top 50% of the grid inverted); Race 3 (Based on 2nd best time from Race 1).
Race laps are 12, while in qualifying it will be five, and there will be a bonus two points for qualifying and bonus three for the fastest lap of the day.
The categories will be 60cc Kids Cup; 125cc seniors, juniors and Masters; Shifter Cup Pro and Easy Cup Rookie.
