A father of two was yesterday struck down along the Number 11 Village public road, Corentyne, Berbice by a car while he was reportedly attempting to cross. He later succumbed to his injuries. `
Dead is Stanley Bronne called ‘Keshan’, 30, of Lot 8 Number 11 Village.
Reports are that the vehicle involved, bearing licence plate number PTT 8022, was heading west along the southern carriageway when the pedestrian reportedly walked across the road from behind a parked lorry.
The driver of the vehicle who gave his address as Block X, Diamond Housing Scheme, has since told authorities that he swerved south to avoid a collision, but his right bumper came into contact with the now dead man. The impact caused Bronne to land on the windscreen of the car and then roll onto the public road. He was rushed to the New Amsterdam Hospital in an unconscious state but subsequently succumbed while receiving medical attention.
A breathalyzer was performed on the driver and he was cleared; moreover, he is assisting ranks with the investigation.
