DEAR EDITOR,
I refer to a letter by Vishnu Bisram (PhD) which appeared in your publication of Thursday 18th April, under the caption, “Hold Referendum on The CCJ and Privy Council”.
In the first paragraph, the writer states, (and I quote) ‘Can people trust the CCJ? The Barbadian Prime Minister Mia Mottley describes the court judges as “politicians in robes” and promises to pull her country out of it and return to the London Privy Council’. (end of quote)
Editor, I am sure that most of your readers who are knowledgeable about Caribbean affairs already know that the present Prime Minister of Barbados, The Honourable Mia Mottley, made no such statement or promise.
It seems logical to me that if someone desires to be considered as a credible presenter of information, well then it behooves that individual to research the material to be presented in order to ensure correctness and accuracy.
I do believe that this elementary precaution would preclude the possibility of disseminating information that may be misleading, inaccurate or downright false.
Yours Truly,
Lloyd H Marshall
