Amrit Rai Memorial T20 Maxwell unbeaten ton hands MMZ comfortable win

Captain Jermain Maxwell scored his fourth century as Meten-Meer Zorg (MMZ) Future Youths defeated Leguan by 155 runs when play in the FAB Mining sponsored Amrit Rai Memorial T20 tournament continued on Sunday last at West Demerara.

MMZ Future Youths posted 232-2, taking first strike. Maxwell struck 127 not out (13×4 7×6) from 68 balls. He was well supported by Sheldon Alexander who scored 68 (6×4 3×6). Leguan was never in the hunt and were bowled out for 75. Sham Persaud scored 30 and Wazir Ali 17. Sheldon Alexander and Timur Mohamed took two wickets each.
At Meten-Meer-Zorg West – Meten-Meer-Zorg Cricket Club got the better of Windsor Forest by 18 runs. Batting first, MMZ Cricket Club scored 156-5. Rabindra Dasrat scored 51 (6×4 2×6) from 40 balls while Mahendra Nandkishore made 46, Kevin Coleman 21 and Zamal Khan 20 not out.
Mohan Chaitram had 2- 13. Windsor Forest managed 138-7 in reply. Lalta Suknanan got 32, Doodnauth Dhanraj 27 and Deoram Chanderbir 26. Nandkishore picked up 2-7 and Vishal Jaigobin 2-32.
At Zeeburg, the home team beat Saw Pit by eight wickets. Saw Pit batted first and were bowled out for 91 in 18.1 overs. Zafar Khan made 30; Reylex Payne grabbed 4-14 while Malcolm Hubbard and Yetesh Dhanpaul had two apiece. Zeeburg in reply raced to 92-2 in 16.2 overs. Mark Jeffers scored 36 not out and Balbinder Shivpersaud 34 not out.
At Canal #2 Sports Club – Rising Star A defeated Christ Ambassador by one wicket. Batting first, Christ Ambassador scored 113-9. Damian Ross made 40 (4×4 2×6) and Melroy Albert got 21.
Marvin Cheong captured 4-14 and Shane Persaud 2-16. In reply Rising Star reached the target in 16.3 overs. Cheong scored 34; Joel Thomas took 2-12 and Emmanuel Martin 2-24. Host Canal Sports Club overcame Dynasty by 51 runs. Canal Sports Club took first strike and scored 175-6. Chabiraj Ramcharran slammed 54 and Tejpaul Persaud 31; Brian Puran had 2-26. Dynasty in reply scored 124-7. Robin Singh got 19 and Devindra Ramdial 16; Narendra Persaud claimed 3-20 and Seecharran Persaud 2-14.
