DEAR EDITOR,
When I had made my claim for two refunds at the end of November 2018, I was informed by Fly Jamaica that it would take six to seven weeks for this claim to process. Just imagine, such a lengthy period!
It is now approximately 12 weeks and there is absolutely no communication by this airline on when payment will be effected. There are no responses to phone calls, emails, etc. which is nothing new to me, since I had encountered a similar situation in the third week in November in New York, concerning my return to Guyana. Then, I had to purchase another ticket to return to Guyana with Copa Airlines.
The purpose of my letter is to bring to the attention of the Director General of the Guyana Civil Aviation Authority and to the subject Minister – Public Infrastructure (if I am correct) that urgent and positive action needs to be taken against Fly Jamaica to meet payments to its passengers who have sent in claims.
This airline’s reliance and creditability are down to almost zero tolerance, and I say so, based on this and previous travels, in which there were flight cancellations without notification, and its non-response to calls and emails.
Editor, the respective authorities need to urgently address the payments of refunds to passengers and perhaps to assess whether this airline should still be flying to and from Guyana.
‘Enough is Enough,’ I am appealing for early action to be taken.
Yours sincerely
John Seeram
