Police warned against misuse of Govt . vehicles
Members of the Guyana Police Force, G’ Division were recently warned to desist from the practice of misusing State-owned vehicles. This stern warning was recently issued twice in less than a week by the Region Two Executive Officer, Dennis Jaikaran.
Speaking in the capacity of the region’s accounting officer during the flag raising ceremony last Friday night, the REO said that while some police are doing well, there are those who continue to misuse the state owned vehicles.
Earlier, during the course of last week, the REO identified four ranks who were attached to the traffic department, who were seen ‘free riding’ in a police pickup.

Jaikaran went on to say, “I say to you that there is a misuse of Government vehicle, PWW 5449, in which four ranks were seen enjoying themselves in the state vehicle… This matter will not be closed here because it is taxpayers money that provided these vehicles for these people to give service and protection to us, and when they abuse that privilege we need to take a stand.”
Ranks were warned again last Friday night to once again deist from the practice, especially since another rank was seen the said night ‘joy riding’ in a state owned vehicle.
During his address to the public on last Friday Jaikaran said, “I had reason to point out the abuse and misuse of a particular vehicle last Wednesday.
“Tonight in the presence of the commander there’s an addition to that list. This is a matter that this REO is going to take until the end and to see that discipline, orderliness is here and those who abuse state fund will be called to answer.”
