One thing the coalition administration knows to dish out well is starvation. The Democratic National Congress observed they were hosting a meeting at which they were asking for another chance to do the right thing, even after their earlier lies.
In a recent advertisement they listed some of their accomplishments, apparently omitting the following, which we would like to share with the electorate.
1. The coalition administration destroyed the lives of Stabroek Market vendors.
2. They ran a racket paying G$12.5 million/mth for about 2 years on a bond they could have bought for G$25 million.
3. They implemented a host of new taxes which sucked money out of our pockets while giving themselves a 50% increase in salaries.
4. They agreed to all the foolishness in the earlier EXXON contract, collecting a measly US$18 million for us under the table like silly dishonest little boys.
5. They lied to us in their last campaign, going back on their promise to create jobs. Many supporters feel they’ve been taken for a ride as they watch the coalition ministers enjoy their salary increases.
6. Starved the children and families of sugar workers like if they were mad men.
7. They neglected their support base, parading themselves on public television while many Guyanese children did not have enough to eat.
8. They succeeded in having all the cases against PPP ministers and officials involving tens of billions of stolen or misappropriated taxes thrown out. All. That’s eight of eight, or thereabouts.
9. They made back-room deals with union leaders, burying workers’ hopes of getting long overdue adjustments to their pathetic salaries.
10. They’re asking for another chance to finish off what they started.
We maintain that Guyana cannot move forward without new political leaders. I cannot do it alone.
Best Regards,
Craig Sylvester,
Presidential Candidate, DNC.
