A popular Chinese store located near the M. Ali Gas Station at Strand, New Amsterdam was stormed by three armed men Friday night at approximately 7:30 pm.
The perpetrators who were all masked, invaded the Dong Fang Trading Store and held the owner and a staff at gunpoint while they demanded cash.
Reports are that the men sported bag packs and rags to conceal their identity. The men after spending less than 30 minutes inside, bagged $2M in cash and two cellular phones before making good their escape.
Ranks from the Central Police Station located a minute away from the store, arrived shortly after. Police ranks were also expected to be visible during the Christmas season and the commercial areas where the hustle and bustle is evident.
The Chinese Store is a hot spot for business during this time in New Amsterdam but persons claimed that there were no ranks out in that area.
Meanwhile, the Commander of B’ Division Paul Langevine confirmed that six persons are in police custody for the robbery.
