Voting against the budget is opposition for opposition’s sake
DEAR EDITOR,
I read that the minority PPP will vote against the 2019 State Budget which provides $300.7 billion for public spending.
I have been listening to live coverage of questions and answers on the estimates. Minister Bulkan was grilled on all regional allocations for infrastructure, health and education services etc.
The opposition cannot complain that it was not allowed to scrutinise the budget, from 10 am to 10 pm, running now into five days.
Voting against the budget therefore does not make sense and seems to be opposition for opposition’s sake.
Is the PPP using the budget scrutiny processes only for cheap public relations?
