Barnwell, Nedd, Singh rewarded at DCC Annual Awards ceremony

All-rounder Christopher Barnwell and Windies youth players Ashmead Nedd and Sachin Singh were among the top awardees when the Demerara Cricket Club (DCC) held its annual awards ceremony on Wednesday night last at the club’s pavilion, Queenstown.
Barnwell was handed the Clive Lloyd trophy for being named the First Division player of the year while Nedd who played for the Regional side in the ICC U19 World Cup in New Zealand earlier this year, received the Second Division player of the year award.

Respective prize winners display their accolades.

The U19 player of the year prize went to Nkosie Beaton, the U17 accolade was given to Windies U15 and National U17 skipper Singh while Jonathan van Lange collected the U13 and U15 Most Outstanding Player trophies.
Raymond Perez received the Travis Dowlin award for the Most Impacting Performance of the year; 32 in the final over in the GCA T20 semi-final while Dennis Squires took home the Executive of the Year Award for his hard work and dedication.
The Lennox Hunte Memorial award for the Club Member of the Year went to Rawle Rodney; Lawrence Smith collected the MP Fernandes trophy for his Leadership and Discipline while the Colin Wiltshire prize was given to Coach Garvin Nedd for his success.
Special awards were also given to Windies senior player Keemo Paul, Windies B Team players Tevin Imlach and Sherfane Rutherford and Youth players Raymond Perez and Joshua Persaud.
The Roy Fredericks award for the Best Batting Performance of the year went to U13 Jonathan van Lange for his 34 versus GCC, U15 Jaden Campbell 28* against Bel Air Rubis, U17 Sachin Singh 96 versus Saints, U19 Nkosie Beaton 120 versus Malteenoes SC, Second Division Sachin Singh 171 versus Diplomats and First Division Christopher Barnwell 165 versus University of Guyana.
The Lance Gibbs award for the Best Bowling performances of the year were given to U13 Romeo Deonarain 4-6 against Bel Air Rubis, U15 Gustavo Hutson 5-15 versus Bel Air Rubis , U17 Daniel Mootoo 5-26 against Saints, U19 Qumar Torrington 4-12 versus MSC, Second Division Xaviee Smith 6-21 versus Transport SC and First Division Totaram Bishun 6-35 versus Police.
The Keith Semple award for Scoring Centuries went to Singh, Perez, Alphius Bookie, Beaton, Griffith, Joshua Persaud and Barnwell. The Carlyle Miller award for Taking Five-Wicket hauls were received by Ashmead Nedd, Smith, Carlton Jacques, Mootoo, Gustavo Hutson, Barnwell and Bishun.
Barnwell took home the Andrew Lyght Jr. trophy for scoring the Most Centuries (three) while Nedd pocketed the Philbert Blair award for taking the Most Five-Wicket hauls (three). Singh grabbed the Mark Harper accolade for being named the Most Outstanding National Youth Player of the year from DCC while Rutherford received the Linden Joseph trophy for being the Most Outstanding National Senior Player from the club.
Nedd, Rutherford and Paul were given the Berkley Gaskin award for the taking five-wicket hauls for Guyana; Paul and Rutherford received the Robert Christiani award for scoring first class and list A centuries respectively. Nedd, Persaud and Perez were recognised for the selection on the West Indies U19 team.
Shalom Ault (Grade 6), Beaton (6 subjects CXC) and Torrington (Top CAPE student) were rewarded for the outstanding academic achievements. Other awards were given to; Nkosi Beaton for being named the Most Improved Youth Player, Garrick Persaud the Most Improved Wicket-Keeper, Mahiem Khan (junior) and Trevon Griffith (senior) the Best Fielders (Roger Harper award); Lynden Lyght took the Williams Whyte award for his sterling contribution and successful leadership of the club’s second division side.
