Man accused of killing uncle freed on no-case submission

A no-case submission upheld by Justice Sandil Kissoon resulted in 21-year-old Nicholas Hercules being freed of a charge, which alleged he killed his uncle.

Hercules, of Princes Street, Georgetown, had initially pleaded not guilty to the charge, which alleged that on April 01, 2015, he murdered Carlos Solomon.
Yesterday, the trial judge upheld a no-case submission by Attorneys Compton Bobb and Hewley Griffith, who were retained by Hercules.
According to information, Hercules and Solomon knew each other, since they resided at Lot 44 Princes Street, Georgetown. On the day in question, Solomon and Hercules were reportedly involved in an argument.

Later, an injured Solomon was pronounced dead on arrival at the Georgetown Hospital. He was reportedly stabbed.
It was reported that Hercules was held at the Alberttown Police Station when he went to report the matter.
Prosecutors Lisa Cave and Orinthia Schmidt presented the State’s case. During the trial at the High Court in Georgetown several witnesses including police ranks were called to testify.
