Dec 04, 2018 Letters
I refer to the letter published on 2 December 2018 regarding the 2% increase imposed on Central Bank staff.
Based on the information presented, it would be grossly unfair to award staff a taxable 2% increase when a ceiling of a non-taxable 7% was approved by Government in the National Budget.
In contrast, the higher echelons at the Bank who are entitled to less than 2% would arbitrarily be capitalizing on their self-gratified 2% increase; albeit at the expense of the lower category workers.
It is high time the Minister of Finance step up and address the concerns of the deprived staffers, especially from being escheated.
Yours truly,
Observer
