Travis Chase incident… Injured man discharged from hospital; claims journalist kicked, then shot him

One day after a shooting incident which saw 28-year-old Jimmy Ramgobin, said to be a substance abuser, being shot in the leg by TV journalist, Travis Chase, the injured man has been discharged from the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation.

Ramgobin, in a report given to police on the 2nd of December, claimed he was, “laying on the parapet in De Abreu Street (Newtown) when Travis Chase approached and kicked him to his chest area.:
He said that he got up and ran away. Chase fired three shots behind him, one of which hit his right foot.
Ramgobin is nursing a gunshot wound which he sustained during a confrontation with Chase around 04:00 hrs on Sunday morning.
A photo showed what appeared to be a wound to the back of the leg, suggesting he was shot from behind.
According to reports, Chase, 30, shot the man who had attacked him. At the time, Ramgobin, who is said to be homeless, had allegedly hurled bottles at Chase.
The journalist found him lying in front of his girlfriend’s gate while dropping the woman off.
Police in a statement said that when Chase and his girlfriend arrived at her De Abreu Street, Newtown, Georgetown home, he observed Ramgobin in front of the yard.
Chase exited his vehicle and approached Ramgobin who allegedly began hurling bottles at him from a haversack that he had in his possession.
The police statement said that Chase, who is a licensed firearm holder, fired a warning shot at Ramgobin.
But Ramgobin refused to stop, and Chase retaliated by firing three more shots, one hitting his attacker to his lower leg.
Chase in an invited comment, said he was in fear for his safety, since the man seemed to be in a rage, after he woke him from his sleep.
One of the neighbours recalled hearing crashing sounds around 04:15 hours after which she heard about three explosions.
After a photo of Ramgobin wound surfaced which showed the bullet wound at the back of his foot, concerns were raised as to how the incident went down, since most persons are of the assumption that if someone is attacking, it is highly unlikely that they will be shot at any area at the back of their body.

But when Kaieteur News reached out to an investigator to explain how such a thing could happen, the source told Kaieteur News, that it is possible since there were more than one shots, it is likely that the man was in the process of retreating while he would have received the wound, the source claim it would have to be confirmed in the completion of the police investigation.
When Kaieteur News visited the scene on Sunday, there weren’t any witnesses to verify.
Kaieteur News accessed video footage of the victim in front of the house where he was shot just a day before the shooting incident. The man was seen behaving strangely.
Police in their initial investigations have been unable to access CCTV footage of the shooting incident, since residents claim that they were not working.
