Police are investigating the death of pedestrian, Imran Khan, 65, who was struck and killed last Saturday on the Good Hope Public Road, East Coast Demerara.
Police in a statement said that Khan of Lot 161 Droom Street, Annandale North, East Coast, Demerara, was struck and killed by minibus BHH 8465, which was at the time being driven by a resident of Cherry Lane, Melanie East Coast Demerara.
It was reported that the minibus was proceeding west along the southern carriageway of the road when Khan suddenly ran across the road from south to north and was struck by the vehicle.
Khan was picked up by the driver and taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC) where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
The driver, who passed a breathalyzer test, is in custody assisting with the investigation.
