The Georgetown Amateur Basketball Association (GABA) First, Second and Under-23 Division Leagues continued on Wednesday evening last at the Burnham Hard Court on Middle and Carmichael Street where Pacesetters recorded victories in both matches contested. Their first win was in the Under-23 then in the First division, against University of Guyana (UG) Trojans and Plaisance Guardians respectively.
Pacesetters 70-54 Plaisance Guardians (1st Division)
In the feature match of the night in the tournament that is sponsored by Banks DIH through their Rainforest Water and Malta Supreme brands, Nathan Saul top scored with 12 points and was assisted with 11 from Tofawa Daly and 10 from Michael Turner.
On the score sheet for Guardians were Nikkolai Smith (12) and Malcolm Powdar (10).
Pacesetters 52-46 UG Trojans (Under-23)
Clement Brush’ youngsters scraped the University lads by six points in a very low-scoring game. Troy David (10) and Cashief Liverpool (09) of Kwakwani netted the highest tally for the victors. Meanwhile, UG’s Damani Thomas’ game-high score of 13 points was not enough to prevent a loss for his team.
Play in the tournament continues this weekend with two matches each division at the same venue. This evening will see two matches from 18:30hrs featuring Plaisance Guardians against Vikings in Second division while the feature match will pit the UG against Eagles from 20:30hrs in First division play
Tomorrow, Pacesetters will be aiming to continue their purple patch when they bounce against the ever improving Pepsi Sonics in Second division rivalry from 18:30hrs with Bounty Colts and Kobras entering the fray for the main event which would be a First division match-up.
