Editor,
Saturday October 6, 2018 marks the 38th Anniversary since the fraudulent 1980 Constitution was imposed on the Guyanese nation. It is sad day for all Guyanese for that constitution ushered in a long line of dictatorship and with it a cycle of poverty and oppression.
The PPP came to power by treacherously deceiving the Guyanese electorate that they were going to rewrite the 1980 Guyana Constitution and that everything was going to be alright. While in opposition, the 1980 Constitution was described as an evil concoction intended to entrench the mad dictator, Burnham, in power indefinitely.
But when the PPP got into power and inherited the Burnham Constitution, they became selfish and uncaring. They put Guyana up for sale and the Canadian company, OMAI carted away more gold in a decade then the Spanish conquistadors did in 70 years in the pillage of the Inca Empire.
The PPP vultures were not held accountable because of Article 182, which grants the Executive President and his canopy of officials, immunity from prosecution.
Then the Chinese came and carried our timber, leaving desolate land space and swamps. The Brazilian miners came and had a field day and while all this was going on Guyana became a major transshipment port for the exportation of cocaine and other illegal substances.
Roger Khan, the notorious drug lord in complicity with the PPP Government, turned Guyana into a killing field in the America.
Then along came the Coalition parties, and they too were going to set things right and rewrite the 1980 Constitution but after three years, the APNU+AFC turned out to be even more vicious, selfish and uncaring.
Mr. Editor, there must be some solution, and an end to these politician’s Lies, Treachery, Contempt, Disrespect and illegal rule. How much longer must Guyanese continue to live in a perpetual state of bondage, only barely surviving to serve a set of political con men who continue to give away our natural resources as though they have some god given right to do as they want.
Join the Guyana United Artists (G.U.A) on Square of the Revolution on Saturday.
We once again remind Guyanese of that dreadful day in which our right, which our foreparents fought for was taken away by force and political manipulation.
Faithfully yours
Desmond Ali
