The body of 52-year-old Kelvin Royston Bayley, which was found last Sunday on Puruni trail bore 43 chop wounds, an autopsy revealed yesterday.
Police are still to make arrests in the murder of the father of six, whose mutilated corpse was found by miners who were heading back to their camp.
Photographs seen by Kaieteur News showed the victim in a jersey and boxers shorts. There were multiple chops on the body, including a gaping wound to the neck, while his left hand appeared to have been hacked off at the wrist.
Death was due to haemorrhage and shock due to multiple incised wounds.
Bayley’s son claimed that he told his father that they should leave the interior as soon as they had enough money. However, his father insisted in spending a few more days in the area.
