– as GTT launches ‘Teachers Plan’
Even as public school teachers await a much needed pay increase, they are reaping other forms of benefit.
The latest came compliments of the telephone giant – GTT – which has announced a special plan for teachers. The plan which was launched last Monday occurred during the phone company’s ‘Back to School Motivational Caravan’.
According to GTT, “this value plan is packaged exclusively for teachers; our champions who pave the way for the future generation.”
The plan is one that gives teachers across Guyana 25 percent more value on all Prepaid Mobile Plans and Top-ups. This means that teachers will get 25 percent more credit regardless of their top-up amounts and 25 percent more data, voice minutes or text messages on all mobile plan activations.
To benefit from this offer teachers need only to subscribe by taking a confirmation letter signed by either their school’s Head Teacher or the Ministry of Education, along with a valid form of identification to any GTT Retail Store.
GTT’s Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Justin Nedd, stated “we are inspired by the service our teachers provide us and it makes us proud to give them more value on all qualifying mobile plans”.
He continued to say that “GTT is big on education and will play its role in the enhancement of education for the Guyanese people by partnering with the Ministry of Education.”
Meanwhile the telephone company is forging ahead with visits to secondary schools around Guyana with support from its Brand Ambassadors Franklin “Saiku Andrews, Poonam Singh and Andrew King. While visiting schools recently the ambassadors were able to engage the students in motivational talks and giveaways.
In an effort to do more for the schools, GTT’s Head of Mobile, Rhonda Allicock, said, “GTT wants to extend the love to schools across Guyana, so we are giving every school the opportunity to become one of two schools to receive $100,000 to assist in any of their school’s projects.”
“It’s quite simple, have as many persons text your school’s name to 620-7223. The more you text the higher the probability of your school receiving $100,000 from GTT,” Allicock added.
Responding to GTT’s announcement, Minister of Education, Ms. Nicolette Henry, commended GTT’s initiative. “The Ministry of Education is appreciative of the collaborative efforts of GTT and welcomes other stakeholders to support similar benevolent gestures.”
