In an effort to promote the sport in the area, Keon Roberts will be hosting a four-team cricket (hardball) tournament at Zeelugt Sports Club ground on August 12 starting at 09:00hrs.
The winning and runner up teams will be given trophies and medals as well as the best batman bowler in the tournament. Zeelugt, Rising Star, Meten-Meer-Zorg and Golden Achievers are the teams set to battle for supremacy.
Special prizes will be handed out for the children in attendance, while Bar-be-que will be on sale.
In an invited comment, Roberts said fans will be in for a treat since some of the top players on West Demerara and East Bank of Essequibo will be participating. He stated that cricket is one sport that promotes unity and such he is looking forward to a successful competition. Pritipaul Singh Investment is the lone sponsor on board so far and Roberts has expressed gratitude for the gesture.
The tournament is being organised to coincide with the birth anniversary of Roberts, Keon Junior and Keola Roberts.
