When people want to play bad dem does seh that jail ain’t mek fuh cat and dog. And dem does use dem words when people tell dem that if dem behave bad de jail guh find dem. Nuff young boys who smelling dem sweat does tell dem parents de same thing.
Nuff mothers see dem son walking de wrang road and would tell dem how de jail gun pick dem. Yesterday, dem boys see a man who ain’t frighten jail. Now when a man prefer jail than to live outside. It mean that things really bad wid he.
Guyana jail is probably de wuss place anybody can be. It got de wuss food; de prisoners got to sleep pun cardboard or pun a piece of sponge. Some does sleep pun de bare concrete. De food is something else. Don’t ask fuh fry fish. Pepperpot is lang water and couple bone. That is why prisoners does cry when is Christmas.
This man been in jail and get release. He come out and go to a policeman and cuss. De policeman get vex and charge de man. Dem boys was in court when de matter reach de magistrate. Dem hear de man begging de magistrate fuh send him to jail and dem couldn’t understand.
Dem see people who buss cry when dem get sentence to jail. Dem had a cameraman from Babbie Ramroop TV station who when he get jail, cry till a prison warden had to tell him he gun mek heself sick. Some of dem does try to get away.
One set break out of de jail and is only luck mek some of dem get ketch. Now dem boys want to know why when people trying to break out of jail dem got people who want to go in and live. This man beg de magistrate fuh send him to jail. De magistrate already got a problem because de jails does full up quick and de government ask fuh alternative sentence.
But this man beg and de magistrate oblige. She give de man one month. When de man was going down dem boys hear he cussing de magistrate. He talking bout these people and how dem mekking joke.
Dem boys believe that outside more hard than in de jail. Inside, de man got a roof over he head, he got a place to lie down and he getting he meals. He even getting medicine if he sick. Fuhget woman. Dem got substitute.
