Windward Islands defeated Guyana by two wickets when the Windies Women’s championship continued recently in Jamaica.
Batting first at Sabina Park, Guyana Women managed 121-5 with Shemaine Campbell scoring 61 and Akeze Thompson 20; Pearl Ettienne claimed 2-19. Windward Islands Women responded with 168-8 in 19.3 overs. Juliene Nero made 34, Stacy Ann Adams 23 and Edleyn Turteen 21; Tremayne Smartt picked up 26.
The tournament continued yesterday with Windward Islands facing Leeward Islands, Guyana playing Barbados and Jamaica taking on Trinidad and Tobago.
Scores: At Sabina Park: Windwards won by two wickets.
GUYANA 121 for five off 20 overs (Shemaine Campbelle 61, Akaze Thompson 20; Pearl Etienne 2-19)
WINDWARD ISLANDS 122 for eight off 19.3 overs (Juliana Nero 34, Stacy-Ann Adams 23, Edleyn Turteen 21; Tremayne Smartt 2-26)
At Kensington Park: Jamaica won by seven wickets.
LEEWARD ISLANDS 68 all out off 20 overs (Vanessa Watts 5-9, Chadean Nation 3-15)
JAMAICA 70 for three off 20 overs (Chadean Nation 28 not out; Tiffany Thorpe 2-11)
At Sabina Park: Barbados won by six wickets.
TRINIDAD & TOBAGO 92 for five off 20 overs (Britney Cooper 47; Shamilia Connell 2-17)
BARBADOS 93 for four off 15.4 overs (Hayley Matthews 39, Danielle Small 22; Shenelle Lorde 3-17)
