Two bandits shot a carwash owner and relived him of an undisclosed sum of cash, at his 17 Broad & Lombard Street business at around 22.00 hrs last night.
Leroy Robinson, a 37-year-old car wash operator, was shot to the leg. He has been admitted to hospital.
Kaieteur News understands that Robinson was at his carwash business when the robbers approached and demanded money.
Robinson’s mother, 62-year-old Bridgette Robinson, who operates a shop just 25 feet away from the scene, said she heard someone saying, “nobody don’t run”, after which she heard two gunshots.Mrs. Robinson then saw her son lying on the ground and bleeding. A sister then took the injured man to hospital. The mother said, she thought the robbers had killed her son, and was thankful that he survived the attack. When asked if this ever happened before Mrs. Robinson said, it was the first time anything like this happened to the father of four, who has been operating the carwash at that location for over 5 years.A report was made and police have since commenced an investigation.
