Training Corp and Base Camp Ayangana recorded victories when the Guyana Defence Force Inter Unit T20 tournament continued Friday at Camp Ayangana ground.
Training Corp defeated Six Infantry by six wickets in the day’s first encounter. After being reduced to 19-3, Six Infantry managed 111-8 off their reduced quota of 15 overs due to rain, batting first. Opener Roderick Benjamin struck 42, while Hillary Hopkinson made 13, Joshua Rollins 11 and Terrence Stewart eight. Usher Cumberbatch claimed 2-13, M. Alexander 2-15 and A. McFarlane 2-18.
Training Corp were given a revised target of 75 off nine overs and reached home off the very last ball of their innings, ending on 75-4. M. Critchlow made 17 and M. Alexander 14. H. Smith had 3-17.
Base Camp Ayangana beat Engineers by four wickets in their encounter. Engineers took first strike and scored 97 all out in 16 overs. R. Reid and C. Fordyce added 36 for the opening stand before the latter went for four. Reid went on to top score with 28 while Qunicy Oudkerk made 15 as Paul O’Neal claimed 3-13, Shemar Allen 3-22 and Jemoul Chisholm 2-9.
Base Camp Ayangana responded with 99-6 in 16 overs. Damion Waldron struck four fours and one six in a fluent unbeaten 57 off 44 balls. Waldron and Allen who made 15 not out took their team to safety with an unbroken seventh wicket stand of 31 after they were restricted to 65-6. Clint Fordyce, O. Gilead and J.
