DearEditor,
I am a concerned citizen living on the East Bank Demerara. I am writing this letter to complain about the rum shop, “Django Bar”, in Eccles Old Road. For almost a year, every night, music is being played loud at late times, sometimes until 4:00 in the morning.
The person in charge of the bar allows vehicles to come there to play music because they are buying from the bar so he could make all the profit, and make the lives of citizens uncomfortable in their homes.
He also has loud music inside the bar. This music can be heard from a distance away. Most days the bar is opened till 4:00 and sometimes till 5:00 in the morning, which is illegal.
When the police are called at nights to come, the patrol comes at times, shuts off the music and when they leave the music continues playing again. Sometimes the police come and leave with the music still loud. A vehicle that plays there frequently is PJJ 2879.
It’s unfair for the citizens living around the neighbourhood to endure this during the week and even weekends. Nothing is done to stop it. It has been going on for quite a while and I am asking for the relevant authority to look into this matter and help stop it.
Eccles resident
