Dear Editor,
As a public servant employed in February of 2017 I am not entitled to a retroactive increase. This is the first of my working career that I will not benefit from such retroactive payments. Mr. President, Finance Minister and PS of PSM, this year Christmas after tax my family will get a total of $6,270 dollars for their Christmas. I am deeply crushed, hurt and depressed. Based on the Finance Circular 5/2017 and 15/2017 issued by the Ministry of Finance, all public servants are only entitled to a retroactive increase once they are employed as at 1st of January 2017. Given this info I am pleading with the President the Finance Minister the PS of Public Service Ministry and the Minister of State anyone who is willing to listen, please amend these circulars to allow public servants retroactive salary increases since we depend on it especially this time of the year.
Crushed Public Servant
