Dear Editor,
It is with much disgust and regret that I highlight a grave misgiving that was perpetuated by the Georgetown Chamber of Commerce and Industry. This institution launched a magazine some weeks ago. It was about oil. In that document, a message by the GCCI President precedes the message of our President, David Granger.
But I have to ask the following: Would the institution have done the same had Bharrat Jagdeo been the President? Would it really dare to insult Jagdeo in that manner? Why does the President of GCCI believe his “message” is so important that it must be featured before the Head of State’s?
Editor, regardless of one’s beliefs, respect for our leaders, a sense of decency and professionalism must be allowed to prevail. This behaviour by GCCI not only delivers a jab to their integrity but signals to onlookers like me, once again, the true colours of this organization.
